Babies' Day Out

I am very fortunate to be able to call my co-workers friends. Not only do I enjoy going to work with them, we also enjoy getting together outside of school too. It just so happens, that 4 of us are currently on maternity leave with our new babies! We decided to get together yesterday for a baby play date! Baby C and I had so much fun with these ladies and their babies! I missed talking with them so much! Here are all of us with our newborns...which, I have to say, they all look FABULOUS!!!!!!

Kim with beautiful baby Anna. She is the oldest of the babies, 13 weeks!

Kristen and adorable baby McKenna. McKenna is the second oldest at 12 weeks.

Krista and stud muffin Tyler. He enjoyed hanging with all of the ladies today! He is the closest to Baby C's age, 6 weeks old.

All of the babies were so good! I think that they knew that that their Mommies needed to talk! We laid them down with each other and it was so neat to compare their sizes! Baby C was the littlest by far. Starting top left: Anna, McKenna, Lacey, and Tyler.

Big sisters Macy and Olivia had their own play date too! These two cuties had us laughing all day! Between their dressing up, singing show, and pretend play I had a smile on my face the whole time! Kids really do say the darnedest things!
"All my friends are firemen and they fire me all day!"

How cute are they?!

Baby C: 3 Weeks Old

Baby C is 3 weeks old today.

What has she been up to the past 3 weeks?

  • Baby C sleeps most of the day and night. During the day she wakes up to nurse every 3 hours...like clock work! At night time, she will nurse at 10:00pm, 2:30 ish am, and again around 6:00am. Then it is time to get Big C up, dressed, and out the door with Daddy.

  • Baby C finally lost the umblicial cord! This makes changing her diaper so much easier.

  • Speaking of diapers, Baby C does NOT like to "use the facilities" if her diaper is already dirty. She will wait to go #1 or #2 until she has a clean diaper on. This sometimes means that we go through 2-3 diapers in one changing.

  • Baby C is SO alert when she is awake! I love these times! I just talk, talk, talk to her and she starts squirming and "talking" back. It just melts my heart!

  • Big C is so protective of his baby sister already! "Tay-ton's baby!" he will tell anyone who tries to take her! He is giving her kisses at night before bed and asks about her every morning when he wakes up.

  • Baby C has made us all feel so blessed to have her in our lives. Our family is feeling complete with her here and we all just love her so much!

Presents for the Princess!

This cute little girl......

has been spoiled this week! When we got home yesterday from picking up Big C, she had this adorable dress and bloomers (Oh how I LOVE bloomers!) on our door step from our Uncle Keith and Aunt Jane.
When Curt got home, he brought some gifts for Baby C from some co-workers. This onesie is so true!

I can NOT wait until the weather gets nicer....and she gets bigger...to put her in these outfits. Oh the bright colors and RUFFLES!!!!!! So cute!

This decorative tin was another gift that fits so perfectly with the decor of her room! She is such the little princess already!

This little piggie went to....TARGET!.....and came home with us! This is literally the only thing in her room that is pink!

Thank you so much to all of our family and friends for thinking of us and our little girl! We are so blessed to have you in our lives! THANK YOU!

Celebrate Today!

Did you know that today is National Pancakes Day? I think in honor of today, Big C and I will have some pancakes for dinner!

Of course, this then got me thinking.....you know me and my over active imagination....if I could make up a day...what would it be? Here are my top 5 choices:

  • National "You Have the Letter Y in Your Name" Day

  • National "This Isn't My Real Hair C0lor" Day

  • National " Does My Butt Look Big In These Jeans" Day

  • National "Talk In a Fake Accent" Day

  • National "Skip Work" Day

These are just a few of the ideas that I am working on. Of course, I would have to check to first make sure that these weren't already National Days...how embarrassing would that be?! I actually, not joking here, starting searching for these days on the calendar. In my searching, I actually came across a website that I can register one of my day and it will become a National Day! For a mere $20, I can get my "special day" registered with the National Special Events Registry. Even though Congress won't honor the day, I am sure a few of you out there would honor National "Wear Your PJ's to Work" Day! So, my question to you is, if you could create your own National Special Event Day what would it be?

Olmpians Make Serious Bank!

If you are like me, you can't get enough of the Olympics! I seriously don't know what I will do when they are over! I'm truly amazed by these athletes commitments and dedication to not only their sport, but their training regime. I mean, it sometimes is hard for me to finish a full 30 minutes on the treadmill and they are training in 4 two hour sessions a day! I couldn't help but wonder how they can afford to train so much and not have to work. To think I was actually worried about them going broke...I mean, the economy sucks and they aren't working! How do they do it?! I guess I shouldn't worry about them though, considering how much made this past year! Even though their Olympic Gold medals may be priceless, they have certainly banked enough money to keep them comfortable!

Shaun White is one of the highest earning Olympian athletes (non-professional). He earned $8million last year!

Lindsey Vonn...no need to worry about her either...she brought in a cool $3million.

Bode Miller...he is holding his own with $1.3 million.

I'm not sure how much Apolo Ohno has made, however have you been wondering why he always yawns before his races? Could he really be this relaxed?
Apparently, he yawns to take in more oxygen and to calm his nerves. Hey...it must work! Apolo has 7 medals....and counting....to prove it!

"That's What She Said!"

If you have ever watched "The Office" you have heard this one-liner plenty of times....or, if you have ever been to my house, you have heard this more than enough times! If you haven't had the privilege of either, let me explain. The quote "that's what she said" first made its way into my life via "The Office" on TV. A character said an innocent line..."this is hard"....to which another character replied...."that's what she said". Thus, creating a new one liner phenomenon.

However, one student took it a little too far and it landed him in detention.

The Reason for Detention reads: another student made the comment "you need to push it in further" (innocent comment) and Dalton added "that's what she said."

Not going to lie, I had a good hearty laugh at this!

Must Reads

I never realized how little "good" TV was on during the day. Unless you are into soap operas or endless baby shows, there isn't much worth watching during the day. I mean, the Olympics don't even come on until the evening...what's up with that?! So, not only have I had a newborn attached to a certain body part I have also had my Kindle attached to another certain, but different, body part. I love the fact that I can download samples of books for free, read a couple of chapters, then decided it I want to buy it or not. I have added a few....ok, like maybe 10 so far, but like I said there is NOTHING on TV during the day!......new books to my must read list.

A new author that I recently discovered is Allison Winn Scotch. The first book I read from her was:

This book was about a mother who often wondered what her life would be like if she made different choices...then poof! one day, she went back in time 7 years and was able to make different choices to see what her life would have been like. I don't know anyone who hasn't at least thought about what their life would have been like if they had chosen a different path. Not only will you get caught up in how her life differs with every choice she makes, but it will also have you thinking about your life and the 'what ifs' if you had chosen a different path for your self.

Currently, I'm reading:
Breast Cancer Awareness has always been a very close cause to my heart, so when I came across her book about a young women who is diagnosed with it, of course I became hooked right away. I'm only half way done with it so far, so I can't give too much info about it other than when reading it, you will become the main character's cheerleader and sympathizer throughout the novel.

Just when you thought we were rid of her.....
Kate Gosselin has a new book coming out in April. This book is boasting excerpts from her private journal about her marriage, kids, and three years of filming their TV reality show. I wonder if there will be anything 'juicy' about her ex-husband whom I have read she had a nickname for him...Stubby. You can just imagine what body part she was referring to with that one!

Kelly Cutrone may be a cut throat boss, however, in her book she offers women encouragement to go after their dreams and stand up for themselves....
something you don't see her doing much of on her reality TV show, but her book is inspiring....a must read to get you off your rear-end and get motivated!

Tori Spelling is now trying her hand at writing children's books after writing adult books. I can't help but think that the main character of her book, Tallulah not only looks like her, but has her same dog too. Maybe this is yet again another stab at her mother....

I'm sure many of you don't have time to sit and read a 300+ page book...maybe you just have enough time to read blogs...but at least you are reading!!! (You can take the teacher out of the classroom, but not the love of reading from the teacher!)

Big C's Big Snow!

Just like most of you, we were hit with some heavy snow last week. Now, I didn't mind...I was "snowed in" anyway but it was extra special because Curt's school was closed a day. We kept Big C home with us and when Baby C went down for a nap..with Curt....Big C and I hit the snow!

There is so much snow, he has trouble walking in it....but he did NOT want to come in from playing in it.

Although, he may have had trouble walking in it due to the NUMEROUS layers I put him in!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This morning, I made heart shaped pancakes for breakfast in the colors of hot pink and purple. I simply dyed the pancake batter pink and purple .....
.....then cooked the pancakes. Once they were done, I used heart shaped cookie cutters to turn them from circles to hearts. Big C wasn't sure about them at first...he didn't think that they were pancakes, but after a little taste, all was good!
After breakfast, the kids...wow, I can't believe I said kids!.....got to open their Valentine's gifts.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all from my little heart breakers in training!

Apolo Anton Ohno...OH YES!

Have you been watching the Olympics? I have only slightly......(obsessively)...been watching the coverage of the 2010 games held in Vancouver.

However, Saturday night I was GLUED to the TV watching Apolo Anton Ohno speed skating.

If you don't watch the Olympics, first of all, shame on you, you might know him from Dancing With The Stars. He won (can't remember what season) with Julianne Hough. His grace on the dance floor is nothing to compared to him skating. He moves with such ease and his face shows such peace and concentration when skating that it appears to be effortless. Baby C and I literally sat in amazement of his skating....that and he is easy on the eyes too! Isn't that what the Olympics is all about?
