New Obsession.....

When it comes to listening to music vs. TV watching.....TV watching wins hands down. However, I have discovered a new obsession that keeps me from turning on the TV and keeps me plugging in the ipod. His name is Michael Buble.

Not only is he easy on the eyes...sorry Curt, but it's true....his voice just has the most soothing quality. My favorite song that he sings is 'Everything.' Every time I hear it, I am in a world of my own that only contains my husband and I. Michael Buble sings it best...

" In this crazy life,
And through these crazy times,
It's you, it's you
Ya make me sing
Your every line your every word
You're everything

Your every song
And I sing along
'Cause you're my everything"

I love you Curt and I am so proud of you!

Another Boy!!!!

I'm so excited to announce that I am going to be an aunt again to another boy, Oliver Lyndon Pollert!!!!

Ok, so I doubt this is EXACTLY how it happened...but I thought this was funny! My sister and her husband are thrilled to announce that they will have a second son, Oliver Lyndon Pollert. How CUTE is that name!?! Due to their first son, Collin, having 'heart' issues their doctors are very careful to take every precaution with our new little miracle. After checking the baby's heart, which is the size of a fingernail, all looks good....Praise Jesus! They will be having a second ultrasound once Oliver is a little bigger to make sure that his heart is still growing correctly. Now, Clayton will have two boy cousins to run around with and create mayhem for the Grandparents! I love it!
Here is my little man before bed tonight. We are dog sitting for the night and Clayton was watching the dogs play downstairs from the safety of his perch in the loft!

Boy? Girl?

Our dear friends and Clayton's Godfather, Jason and Ta'Lena are having a boy!! They have decided on the cutest name too, Benjamin Robert. I love hearing her refer to the baby as Ben already! I couldn't be more excited and happy for them. I remember the day all too clearly when our ultrasound technician showed us on the sonogram the 'turtle' that proved my little kicker was a boy. I had tears of joy just seeing pictures of Clayton for first time. On Sunday, I stopped by the new parent's house to drop over a gift for their big day! I had bought two gender specific outfits and wrapped them in gender specific paper. If it wasn't hard enough waiting to find out what their little bundle of joy was, I had to throw in a pink 'target' and a blue 'target' to constantly remind them!

Day One

Day one with no sweets started out......ROUGH! My teaching assistant, whom I love and trust very dearly and whom I could not function without during the day, promised that she would help me with my fasting of sweets. She said that since today was my first day, that she would help me by not eating any sweets herself. We did really well all day...no sweets! However, in the afternoon for our students' snack she decides to feed them BROWNIES! Not just any brownies mind you, brownies with chocolate fudge on them AND if that wasn't enough, they even had mini chocolate chips on them that cried out "Party in your mouth if you eat me!" I couldn't believe it! My mouth was literally salivating! To redeem herself, she decides to, with the help of our Kindergarten students, take inventory of all of their snacks to make sure that I don't cheat and eat them! (Mind you, this was a FANTASTIC math lesson for the kids and it was so meaningful for them, especially as I sat in the corner just shaking my head!) With friends like this....who needs enemies!

I've decided to give up.....drum roll please.............ddddrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

Apparently, the fruit doesn't hide the fact that it is still cake!

...or this.....One of my biggest weaknesses....... ice cream....mmmmmm....

....or this......Ugh...early morning staff meetings will be twice as hard since I can no longer indulge in this nice, sugary treat......

....or this......NO chocolate chip cookies...must repeat to self.....NO chocolate chip cookies, NO chocolate chip cookies.

Not even one little ity bitty tiny weensy Hershey kiss!

Wish me luck friends....I'll need it!

Prayers Needed

Many of you know, I enjoy 'cruising' the blogs. On my cruise, I came across this blog. It is about a couple, Lauren and Josh who were blessed with quads. Sadly, at 22 weeks, her body began having too strong of contractions and the doctors couldn't stop them. This poor woman had to deliver her quads. They were too underdeveloped to make it. Please pray for their family, my heart is breaking for them.

If God brings you to it,
He will bring you through it.
Happy moments, praise God,
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

Red Carpet Showdown

I have a confession...I only watched the red carpet of the Academy Awards! I just can't sit through it! Here are a few people who caught my eye on the red carpet.

Taraji Henson...loved her hair and dress...the necklace is growing on me.

Kate Winslet....a timeless beauty who would have looked beautiful in a paper bag!

Mickey Rourke.......odd, odd, odd...but love the necklace! A tribute to his four legged friend?

Beyonce Knowles...aka...Mrs. Jay Z.....not sure what to think, kinda think that it is missing something. Necklace? Bracelet? Big earrings? Blingin' Ring? Weird proportions of her dress too.

Jessica Biel....left in a hurry with her bib still on!

Robert Patterson..aka...Edward Cullen....lose the scruffiness and never smile, it's kinda creepy.

Anne Hathaway...love the dress...but can never look at her the same after watching Brokeback Mountain. How she goes from Princess Diaries to showing her 'goods' on screen I'll never understand!

Angelina Jolie...LOVE the earrings! That color is amazing! She needs darker lipstick.
Brad Pitt...loose the 'stache.

Alicia Keys...I had to do a double take to make sure that was her. She is stunning! She should always wear that color!

Children's Museum Fun!

Saturday was cold, cold, cold! We didn't feel like being couped up in the house so we decided that since Curt was home that we would have a family outing. We packed up and visited the Indianapolis Children's Museum. First of all, if you live in the Indianapolis area and have children you HAVE to take them to the museum. I take my Kindergarten students every year and they have a blast! Not only is the museum fun and interactive, but there is so much to learn. Between the Superhero exhibit, to the Lego Castle, to the Egyptian tomb, and Science world and not to mention the Dinosphere that rains...yes rains... we learned so much and had a blast! Here are a few pictures from our trip.
Entering Lego Castle. This horse and knight are completely made out of Lego's...amazing!
Daddy and Clayton with the Knight before entering the Lego Castle.
If Daddy was a Lego Knight, this is what he would look like! Facial hair and all!
This dragon was also made completely out of Lego's...probably one of the coolest Lego sculptures I've ever seen!
Now entering the Comic Book Heroes exhibit.
Clayton and his goldfish snacks are posing in front of the car used in the "Dark Knight" batman movie. That thing actually has a jet engine!
In the Dinosphere exhibit, kids can dress up like a dinosaur and pretend to play in a nest with dinosaur eggs.
We didn't dress Clayton up, but he sure did enjoy the eggs! However, he thought they were basketballs and kept throwing them out of the nest. Maybe this is why dinosaurs are extinct!
We all had an amazing time at the Children's Museum and left right before all of the snow hit. Little Clayton LOVED everything and was so tired after our adventure. He not only slept on the way home, but he took a three hour nap at home too. We will definitely be returning!

?Twitter?

Have you heard of this? Apparently, it's all the new craze. I must be out of it because I thought blogging was the new craze! At least I don't still carry my "Zach Morris" cell phone or wear socks with sandals..actually, I never did that one! If you are like me and haven't heard of Twitter, let me fill you in. Twitter is kinda like Instant Messenger for your phone...so kinda like a text. Instead of sending it to only one person at a time, it sends to many people. It is basically just to tell people what you are doing when you are doing it. In my opinion...it takes "blog stalking" or "facebook stalking" to a whole new level! I had heard about it from a friend and also from looking up celebrity gossip...yes, I am one of those people who is slightly addicted to magazines like "In Touch" and "OK". I was surfing online and came across an article about Britney Spears and how she Twitters. Of course I had to sign up for an account to see what she was talking about! When it comes right down to it, I guess it is just one more 'cyber thing' for people to get addicted to!

Big Purses Rule!

I LOVE big purses! Once, in high school I bought a big purse only to later find out from my girlfriends that it was not a purse but a diaper bag! I didn't care! That purse could fit anything and everything from my 'Zach Morris' cell phone, to my Econ school book, to any candy that my friends and I snuck into movies. Man, I loved that purse. My sister recently found and bought a purse and immediately contacted me about the new addition. Well, if you know my sister, then you know that she is more trendy than myself however when I saw the purse I fell in love with it. It was truly love at first sight. So, of course, I had to buy it! Today was not the best of days, however when I got home a big box was on my doorstep and inside was the purse! Oh happy day! The Lord knew I needed a pick me up and He delivered in the right way! Seriously, how cute is this purse!

President Obama's Promises

While campaigning, President Obama made around 500 promises to American citizens. With so many promises made, it may be hard to keep track of what they are and if they will be broken or met. I came across this website that kept track of EVERYTHING! PolitiFact.com has a Obameter that actually has recorded all of O's promises. It also tracks the promises and the status of each along with explaining each of the promises. I found this site extremely interesting and check it often. I have to admit that I also find a little bit of humor in the aesthetics of the 'Obameter' too!

The Gunn Triplets are HOME!

Our cousins, Josh and Erica finally have all three of their miracle babies home. After years of praying, Erica and Josh welcomed one handsome boy and two adorable girls. Harper Joshua, Emerson Shelby, and Arden Renee were born on 35 wk, 1d on Jan. 23, 2009 at 10:05 am. Harper (boy) was 5 lb 13 oz and 19.5 in. Emerson (girl) was 4 lb 11 oz and 17 in. Arden (girl) was 5 lb 2 oz and 19.5 in. Harper and Arden spent a little over a week in the NICU and Emerson decided to extend her stay. On Valentine's Day, the Gunn family got the sweetest gift...all three babies healthy and at home. God is good! I'm so excited for them! Curt and I saw the babies when they were still in the NICU at two days old. I can't wait until I get to see them again!

Book Club Tuesday

For those of you who know me, I am a very avid reader. If you give me a book, chances are I will have it read in a day...maybe 2 days time. When I came across the "Twilight Series" I was very leary of the book. After hearing friends going on and on about how great the book was, I caved and read it. I was completely ADDICTED!! I got my sister reading it, my Mom, my babysitter, and many of my girlfriends to read it. I've thrown around the idea of starting a book club because I just love reading books and discussing them. So...here goes!!

The first book 'official' book in the book club is of course.......

TWILIGHT

I'll ask a question about the book and please feel free to respond to my questions and comments along with others' comments that have been posted too. Oh, I'm so excited!! This will be so fun!
Ok, so, I was very skeptical before reading this book. I felt that I was too old to ready a book that was about teenagers/ high schoolers. However, after the Cullen family was introduced, I was hooked. So my question to YOU is...at what point did you become hooked? When did you know that you just had to read all of the books in the series and couldn't put the book down to go to bed...I know you felt this way too! :)

New 'Do'

I decided to update the background of my blog after helping a friend start her blog, Keeping Faith. We got both of our backgrounds for FREE from this adorable website. What do you think? Should I keep this or switch back to my old one?

So, I SERIOUSLY have a case of the 'Mondays.' The school that I teach at originally had today off due to it being Presidents' Day, but darn all that snow we got...we had to have a "Snow Make Up Day" and here I am! I'm missing out on participating on all of the great Presidents' Day sales. This however makes my husband VERY happy. If you know of any 'gotta-have' deals going on let me know!

After doing some 'blog cruising' ...aka...blog stalking....I came across this website, Julian & CO and completely fell in love with this necklace. You can get necklaces, bracelets, key chains, cuff links, and etc. personally made. Moms or Dads can get them with your children. Grandparents can get them with their grandchildren. Spouses can get them with their..well, spouse. Don't forget a special gift for Godparents too! Even animal lovers can get them made with your favorite K9 or feline digits! I just had to get one with my son's birth date and all of his info from that miracle of a day. I will also be a returning customer to purchase a Father's Day gift for my husband.

Wisdom From A Cup

Cold day outside, get Starbucks. Warm day outside, get Starbucks. Good day, treat myself to Starbucks. Bad day, treat myself to Starbucks. Slightly addicted? YES! So, today was pretty much like any day and I got myself a Starbucks. Only difference, I had a gift certificate! I thoroughly enjoy reading "The Way I See It" that is located on their hot drink cups. The one that was on my cup today was #58 and I thought was worth sharing.

The Way I See It #58

I have faith. Faith in our wondrous capacity for home and good, love and trust, healing and forgiveness. Faith in the blessing of our infinite ability to wonder, question, pray, feel, think and learn. I have faith. Faith in the infinite possibilities of the human spirit.

--James Brown Emmy-winning sportscaster and co-host of FOX NFL Sunday.

If you are someone who drinks Starbucks, take the time to read your cup or you can visit their website for "The Way I See It"s for free!

Blogging 101

Everyone is doing it....blogging that is! This will be my attempt to blog. What I will blog about? Who knows! I can't promise you anything extraordinary from this blog...but hopefully it will make someone laugh, learn, think, question, answer, occasionally cry........ but overall entertain.
Last week I went to the Indianapolis Home and Garden show with my Mom to see Kate Gosselin speak. Kate is from the hit reality TV show on TLC called Jon and Kate Plus 8. She has twin girls who are 7 years old and sextuplets who are 4 years old. After having so many children in such a short time she sure looks good! Kate has many 'cute' things that are either bought or given to her family which caught my eye. A few of the things that she has that she uses for organizational purposes...which with 8 children all under the age of 8, organization would be key...I have bought or received a few things for my ONE son. Better to be safe than sorry!
Here are some of the things that I now use too and LOVE along with some pictures of Kate herself. Yes...I know that this show has been on for 3 seasons now and you are probably thinking...get with the program lady...well this is my attempt! I'm new to this whole cyber world of blogging but I'm learning fast!
