How did he get this big? 

  When did this happen and who allowed it? It was definitely not me! Clayton has grown up too fast. He LOVES Kindergarten, which I couldn't be happier about! But this growing fast business has got to stop!  

Happy 4th Birthday Big C!

Four years ago today, God blessed me with the most perfect little boy ever created.  Today has been one of those bittersweet days...sweet for being blessed with 4 years of a healthy and usually happy Big C, but bitter with how fast the past four years have gone! I mean, I just blinked my eyes  and this little miracle turned from this...

  to a smiley toddler...

then to a smart, articulate, creative, brave, hilarious, and handsome four year old.

Dear Clayton,
    You are my absolute joy.  You have taught me how to be completely selfless and to appreciate not only the big monumental moments of life, but even the small moments that usually get overlooked.  Clayton, you may think that the only person learning in our mother/ son relationship is you; however, you continue to teach me not only how to me a mom, but a better person.  You wear your heart on your sleeve and speak your four year old mind.  I'm learning that even though every time your heart gets a "boo boo" as hard as it is for me, I need to allow you to fix it yourself.  Yes, you have your stubborn moments as well, when you believe you are in the complete right...don't know where you got this from! Your are beginning to 'test the waters' even more as grow, but usually you reserve that for your father and I.  I'm excited to see what the coming year has in store for you and to continue on your journey of learning and growing, just please don't grow up too fast!  You deserve to be a kid, free to try things out and make mistakes, for as long as you can!  Clayton, I'm so very proud of you and will love you forever and always.

Its beginning to SMELL alot like Christmas!

Big C and I (along with minimal help from Baby C)  made Christmas ornaments this year for our family and friends.  The ornaments are not only easy to make and kid friendly, but they smell amazing!    All you need is:


   3 cups of cinnamon                               and                     3 cups of applesauce

Mix together into a dough-like-substance and roll out.  We used cookie cutters to create our ornaments into shapes of objects you would typically see during the holiday season: candy canes, gingerbread men (and women), stockings, bells, and stars.  We laid them out on  a cookie sheet and poked a hole in each.

Once they were mostly dried,  Big C choose a colored ribbon for each to be able to hang from their tree.

They did take a couple of day to dry all the way, but ever since making them out house smells like cinnamon...delicious!!

 Big C can't wait to pass out his ornaments to all of our family and friends...if only we can keep Baby C from wanting to eat them!

Future Occupations?

Yes, it has been awhile since I have blogged...too long! I have been so busy teaching, not to mention that I have switched schools and made a drastic jump in grade levels that life is hectic to say the least! I did want to update with a couple of pictures that may be a prediction into the occupations of Big C and Baby C.

I made these from my ipad and thought that they were hilarious! I recently went to a STAR LAB training and am now obsessed with space...don't worry, it will only last a little bit, until I get to teach in the STAR LAB this spring! I've been doing research and came across this...so funny!

Where Have We Been?

Many of you have been wondering and some have been point blank asking...WHY HAVEN'T YOU UPDATED YOUR BLOG?!!!

Well, so sorry to disappoint, but the wait is over! Here is what has been keeping me away from blogging....

Wordless Wednesday: 4th of July

Big C's Growin' Strawberries!

Big C LOVES fruit. It is so hard to keep fruit in the house, especially in the summer, because he eats it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks during the day. While I'm not complaining in the least about him wanting to eat fruit, my weekly grocery budget is! He and I were out browsing at Lowe's and came across a grow your own strawberry kit. I'm constantly trying to find fun activities for him that are centered around learning...such as creating and caring for his frogs.
When I found an activity under $10 that was not only a learning experience but would hopefully help in the grocery budget, I jumped at the chance! He needed no convincing as well!

As soon as we got home, we started to put the kit together. Big C was super excited to grow strawberries, however I believe he thought it would be instantaneous...oops, guess I forgot to explain that part!
The kit comes with a planter, soil, and 10 strawberry seeds. Have you ever seen strawberry seeds? They are so tiny!! Good thing I went to the eye doctor so I could see them!

First task is to add a couple cups of water to the soil and 'fluff' it up. This was one of the funniest parts because Big C HATES to get his hands dirty! The look of disgust on his face while his hands were in the soil was very entertaining to say the least.

Next was filling the planter with soil. He refused to use two hands. Big C didn't want to get both hands dirty. After the planter was filled, we added the strawberry seeds in all of the holes, covered them, and gave it a little water. Then, Big C was almost at his limit and needed his hands washed...STAT!

He choose a nice sunny place for his strawberries. He has been very responsible in reminding me that the strawberries need to be watered.

I wish that I had some big learning epiphany for my 3 1/2 year old son, but I think that all he got out of this was growing strawberries is dirty!

Happy Easter! Baby C 2Months!

Baby C is 2 months old today...what a special Easter for us!

What's up with Baby C?

• Baby C is wearing size 2 diapers.
• Baby C is wearing clothes that are 3-6 months old. They are a little big on her in her legs, however she needs the length for her torso. The 0-3 months do not allow for her to stretch and baby girl loves to stretch!
• She is still nursing and does eat breast milk from a bottle.
• She eats every 3 hours during the day but stretches out her feedings to 6 hours at night! Woohoo!
• Baby C has delighted us by beginning to smile which melts our hearts!
• She loves looking at fans and lights. She thoroughly enjoys being outside and watching her big brother play.
• When she is awake, she is so alert! She also LOVES to be cuddled!
• She has continues to spoil us by being such an amazing baby girl!
  

Baby C celebrated her first Easter with us today! She had a beautiful dress on, but sadly Pukerella got to it before I could take a picture of her in it. Big C wore this same outfit...minus the headband and bow...on his first Easter two years ago.
Big C got to open his Easter basket after his FOUR HOUR nap....an Easter present to his parents!

His favorite gift? These animals with wheels. He runs around the house carrying them and lining them up every. He LOVES these things!

Baby C also got her first Easter present....sleepers!
