MTV's The Jersey Shore

MTV has a reality show...similar to "The Real World" however this is called "The Jersey Shore." The premise of the show is seven (there was 8 but one cast member was asked to leave) Italian women and men who are in their 20's who live and work together at the Jersey Shore.

Have you seen it? Well...why is it becoming such a hit? These people are hard care proud Italians. They call themselves Guidos and Guidettes. Now, I am not Italian, so I did have to look up definitions of each.

Wikipedia.org defines a guido as:
"Guido is a slang term for a working class urban Italian American. The guido stereotype is multi-faceted. Primarily, it is used as a demeaning term towards Italian Americans, as the word guido is derived from either the Italian proper name Guido or a conjugation of the Italian verb guidare. More recently, it has come to encompass Italians who conduct themselves as thugs with an overtly macho attitude."
The Urban Dictionary has it's own definition...but this is a PG-13 blog, so you'll just have to go here to check it out!

ANYWAYS....each of the cast members have nicknames..."The Situation", "Sammi Sweetheart", "JWOW", "Snookie", etc. Of course....I had to find out what my name would be if I was a "guidette".
So, from now on out...you can refer to me as my guidette name: L-POP
