Hand Made....by Moi!

One of my favorite bloggers recently did a post with her Christmas decorations. I was obsessed with the ornaments on her tree. Turns out, she made them! I thought, hey, I can do that! Well, guess what...I did! On Sunday, I made about 30 ornaments...15 made it to our tree....

about 10 made it to Curt's school as gifts....
..and the remaining were all lovingly made as gifts for some extra special people in our life. The ornaments were super easy to make and it put me in such a festive spirit! I need to post a picture of our fabulous tree with our hand made ornaments soon!

Big C Update

No need to feel like Big C is getting left out....he sure doesn't feel that way! A couple of weekends ago, he got some extra special play time with Uncle Adam....

...and with cousin Collin.
Big C has been speaking up a storm!! Last week when putting him to bed, he told Curt and I "LOVE YOU!" for the first time. My heart just melted with pride, joy, love...everything good...at the sound of those words coming from his mouth. His mouth does not stop talking or repeating by the way! i love hearing him try new words...sometimes they come out great, other times...well, let's just say we are practicing non stop!

Baby C's Tiffany Inspired Nursery!

Well...it's DONE!! I took the weekend to finish Baby C's princess/diva room. Thank to you Aunt Stacy for giving me the idea to do a Tiffany &Co. themed room. And now.....let the tour begin!

Entering the nursery...

Baby C's crib and dress with her room accessories...

Three of the walls are a Tiffany's robbin egg blue with one wall being black. Since we don't have an outlet for a light in the middle of her room...nor are we electrically inclined to do so, this decal chandelier was a the perfect solution! The dress form, book, and hat box are a gift from Aunt Stacy, Uncle Adam, Collin, and Oliver.

The black wall with the double windows. My dad built the valance while my mom and I finished it with the fabric and batting...which matches her crib bedding. Yes! The fabric bin also identically matches!

The other half of the black wall and part of her changing table.
Changing table with wrought ironed mirror. This mirror I found at TJ Maxx....originally $150...my price $20!! LOVE A GREAT DEAL! You can also see her first gift from Tiffany's from my bestest friend, her Aunt Jessie. It is patiently waiting for Baby C to come to open it.

A close up of the black wall, crib, and rug...which I found at Wal Mart for $13!! LOVE IT! I had to buy two of them...one by the crib and one by the changing table.

A close up of her bedding...love the details in black and white. Can't you just picture a little baby girl bundled in pink laying here?!
Well...I say her room is done...but knowing me, I'll find little things here and there for her room. For the most part it is done! The only thing left to add...BABY C!!!

"My Dad-da!"

Cousin Collin joined us Saturday night at Curt's basketball game. The very first thing that we after getting in our seats and we look for Curt. Big C gets so excited to see his Dad across the court. He will even mimic the way Curt stands or holds his arms. It is too cute! Last night was no exception. Big C proudly showed Collin where his 'Dad-da' was on the court.

Cousin Collin has only been to a few basketball games, but he was a pro! He cheered on the Lancers to their victory all night, pausing only look at a couple of books with his cousin.

We all loved having Collin come to the basketball game with us and I'm pretty sure he enjoyed himself too!

Tiger Update

Mr. Woods released this statementon his website yesterday morning:

"I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.
"Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.
"But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.
"Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.
"I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology."

Baby C Update

Third trimester is under way!

Baby C is definitely growing! She is measuring at 30 weeks, when in reality, I am only 28 weeks. What does this mean? Good question! Just because I am measuring bigger doesn't mean that she will come early, but I can hope! Everything is still going very well. Baby C has proved to be a little diva. She lets me know when I am sitting or laying in a way that is not comfortable...for her...along with when she thinks I need to give her more room by using the restroom, even if I don't have to go! She is getting so strong that we can see when she moves by watching my stomach!

A Random Fun Fact

Do you know why the poinsettia is the flower that people give to one another and decorate with during Christmas? It's not because it is red and green! I actually originated in Mexico. Here is the Poinsettia Legend:

Long ago in a small Mexican village there lived a girl name Maria and her little brother Pablo. maria and Pablo were very poor, but they always looked forward to the Christmas festival. Each year a large Manger scene was set up in the village church, and the days before Christmas were filled with processions and parties.

Maria and Pablo loved Christmas. But one thing made them sad. Because they were so poor, they had no money to buy presents. They especially wished that they could give something to the church for the Baby Jesus. But they had nothing.

On Christmas Eve, Maria and Pablo set out for church to attend the Christmas service. Along the way, they saw some bright green plants growing by the roadside.

" I know, " said Maria. "Let's take these plants with us to give to the Baby Jesus." "All right," said Pablo.

So the children gathered up the plants and took them to the church where they placed them around the Manger. Some of the other children teased them because they had no better presents to offer. But Maria and Pablo said nothing. They knew they had given what they could.

Then during the church service a wonderful thing happened. All around the manger the plants that Maria and Pablo had brought began to change color. One by one the green leaves on the top of the plants turned into bright red petals, and soon the manger was surrounded by beautiful star like flowers.

From that time on, people in Mexico began calling the green plant with the bright red petals "The Flower of Christmas Eve." Others came to call it the poinsettia, and to this day it is a favorite flower at Christmas time everywhere.

The next time you buy a poinsettia for someone, type up the legend of the poinsettia for them. I found this so interesting and I will never look at a poinsettia again without thinking of the legend.
